Drive recently completed a site rollover for a large, content-rich media site. This enormous rollover was completed very successfully – incredibly – within just one working week…
A popular, content-rich site had over 3 million pages indexed in the primary Google index, and 5.6 million pages indexed in total. The objective was to complete a rollover to a new site with the least number of dropped pages as possible whilst maintaining - but certainly not losing any traffic whatsoever.
The site’s rollover included some big changes: some sections of the site were depreciated and some new sections were added. The RankAbove team worked using the Drive SEO Platform on all 6 million 301 redirects, ensuring each page was linked to the most relevant page or section of the new site; additionally the team put 404 pages in place where they were appropriate; and worked on optimizing the new site as a whole (also using Drive).
As a result almost all of the 6 million 301 redirect pages were in place on launch day, and our client saw absolutely no drop in rankings or search traffic. The icing on the cake for the client – and for RankAbove - was to be able to provide a great user experience with less than 5% of visits on launch day hitting the 404 pages – now that demonstrates the power of RankAbove’s SEO Drive Platform!
